  1. Preserving the Harvest

    November 13, 2021, 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM
    @
    Peter Wentz Farmstead

Join the Peter Wentz Farmstead in a time before supermarkets or refrigeration, before same-day delivery or curbside pick-up. Winters were harsh in the 18th century, and unable to grow crops in the cold weather, families like the Wentzes needed to be prepared. On November 13, meet our living history interpreters as they demonstrate the various ways colonial farm families had to prepare and preserve their harvest for winter, including: open-hearth cooking, smoking meat, cider-pressing, and more! We will also be having demonstrations of wool culturing, basket-making, and joinery. Be here at 11 am and 2 pm to watch our oxen - Peg and Sam - pull a cart around the property! Masks are required indoors regardless of vaccination status, and are highly recommended outdoors. See County COVID Guidelines for updates. All ages; FREE
