March 30, 2019, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ Pottsgrove Manor
April Thomas, owner of Fashions Revisited, will lead this workshop and teach participants all the skills needed to create their own hand-sewn shirt. Men’s shirts in the 18th century were the first layer of any outfit and were almost always made from linen. Both working class and gentlemen’s shirts looked similar but differed with extra ruffles and quality of linen. White linen, all materials needed, and expert instruction are all provided. Participants can choose the type of shirt they wish to make, from an everyday working shirt to one complete with ruffles. Discover how to make the ideal shirt for any level of interpretation at this historic workshop. Space is limited. Materials fee is $85 per person. Ages 14+ and some hand sewing experience is recommended but all levels are welcome. Registration forms with payment (cash, check, or money order accepted) must be sent by March 23rd. Participants are asked to bring a bagged lunch.
