NORRISTOWN, PA – Montgomery County and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced the opening of Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers (MDRCs), temporary facilities where Hurricane Ida survivors can access resources from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and Pennsylvania state agencies. Individuals, families, and business owners can get help applying for federal assistance, receive information about the types of assistance available, learn about the appeals process, and get updates on their applications.
The current schedule for MDRCs is as follows:

Wednesday, October 13 and Thursday, October 14: 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
These hotels were selected as the initial MDRC sites as they are currently housing numerous Montgomery County residents displaced by Hurricane Ida. However, MDRCs are open to the public and residency at a given hotel is not required. Additional dates and community locations will be announced soon and posted at www.montcopa.org/Ida.
The Mobile DRCs will offer a limited number of services from FEMA, SBA, and a state program manager. Individuals interested in the comprehensive suite of federal, state, and Montgomery County services are encouraged to visit the full-service Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), located at the Montgomery County Community College Health Sciences Center – Educational Gymnasium (340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422). The DRC will be open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until further notice. For more information, visit www.montcopa.org/Ida.
Before applying for disaster assistance, applicants should take photos to document damaged property, make a list of damaged or lost items, and compile the following information: Social Security number; address of the damaged primary residence; insurance coverage information; current telephone number and mailing address; and bank account and routing numbers for direct deposit of funds.
Residents and business owners with insurance must file a claim with their insurance company prior to applying for federal aid. Then, apply for disaster assistance using one of the below methods:
- In-person at the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) or a Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (MDRC)
- Online at www.disasterassistance.gov (Spanish: www.disasterassistance.gov/es)
- Over the phone at 1-800-621-3362. Multilingual operators are available. Persons who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability and use a TTY may call 1-800-462-7585. If you use 711 or VRS (Video Relay Service) or require accommodations while visiting the DRC, call 1-800-621-3362. The toll-free numbers are open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST.

The registration deadline for federal assistance is November 10, 2021. Visiting the DRC or MDRC is not required in order to apply.
