Portion of Schuylkill River Trail to be Closed Temporarily

montcoseal_spotlight

Norristown, PA (April 30, 2018) – A portion of the Schuylkill River Trail is scheduled to be closed temporarily between Swede and Ford streets in Norristown beginning the evening of Sunday, May 6. The portion of the trail, about 0.7 miles, is planned to be closed from 6 p.m. on May 6 through 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 12. There will be no official detour designated for the closure. Trail users can use local streets to find the route that is most convenient to them.

The closure is needed in order to complete a section of the Lafayette Street Extension Project. The viaduct that carries the existing trail will be demolished east of DeKalb Street to rebuild part of the trail in its new location. The full relocation of the trail will be completed by the end of the closure.

The necessary work was scheduled in order to avoid closure during weekend hours as much as possible, however, the schedule may vary based on weather.
