Norristown, PA (June 12, 2017) – The Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC) invites the public to attend a discussion and tour of the Village at Valley Forge on June 22, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. The Village at Valley Forge, located at 1 Village Drive in King of Prussia, is an interesting example of a successful town center mixed-use development with an urban design focus. Join MCPC to see how a fully developed Main Street was created on a former Valley Forge golf course amidst a dense network of highways in King of Prussia.
Located on 132 acres, the Village at Valley Forge is a walkable community that includes apartments, an active adult community, a Main Street with restaurants and outdoor cafés, various retail stores, a Wegman’s grocery store, stacked brownstone townhouses, the regional branch of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and plazas, trails, and open spaces all connected by sidewalks to encourage walking throughout the village.
The event will begin with presentations at the Indigo 301 apartments, located at 301 Village Drive.
Speakers will include Dennis Maloomian, President of Realen Properties, developer of the site; Eric Goldstein, Executive Director of the King of Prussia District (KOP-BID); and Rob Loeper, Upper Merion Township Planner. The tour will begin at the Indigo 301 apartments and then continue outside where participants will walk through the village community that has been transformative for the King of Prussia area.
This event is being provided as part of Planning Smarter Montco 2017, a Montgomery County initiative offering planning education and outreach, and corresponds to the Connected Communities theme contained in Montco 2040: A Shared Vision, Montgomery County’s nationally-awarded comprehensive plan.
