September 11 20th Anniversary Memorial Rededication

Saturday, September 11, 2021

The Montgomery County Commissioners will join with other local officials to mark the twentieth anniversary of the September 11th attacks by rededicating the Montgomery County 9/11 Memorial at its new location at the County’s Emergency Operations Center.

The 9/11 Memorial Rededication event will honor those who lost their lives twenty years ago, and those who have served on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 9/11 Memorial Rededication will be followed by Montgomery County’s Public Safety Appreciation Day events which include a kids fun run, 5k walk/run, 5k three-person relay, corn hole tournament, BBQ, public safety apparatus display, and more.

The 9/11 Memorial was commissioned by the County in 2003 and was designed and built by artist Sassona Norton to honor area victims and first responders. It was first installed in 2005, on the fourth anniversary of 9/11 at the Courthouse plaza in Norristown. Due to construction of the Montgomery County Justice Center, the 9/11 memorial is being permanently relocated to the Emergency Operations Center.
