Suggestions for petitioning during Covid-19:
The people who sign your petition need to be members of the same political party and live in the same precinct as you. COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines should be followed, and can be maintained in the following way:
1) Your petition can be signed by people you are socially connected to - you can make arrangements with them over the phone, via text message or via social media to determine the best time for them to meet you to sign your petition. You could leave the petition on their porch or patio and observe them signing it from the sidewalk or arrange to have them meet you at your house or a public outdoor space (like a park or shopping center). Wear a mask, provide a clean pen, and maintain social distancing during the transaction.
2) Consider leveraging community social media groups on Facebook or Nextdoor to meet potential signers virtually before setting up a time for them to safely sign your petition.
3) If possible, signers should be encouraged to use their own pens.
