Planning is the foundation of a safe, successful, and sustainable water supply and sewerage system. In Pennsylvania, oversite of design, permitting, installation, operation and maintenance of facilities are the responsibility of each municipality and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The County Planning Department is responsible for processing form Component 4B – County Planning Agency Review of PA DEP Act 537 Sewage Facilities Planning Modules. The County plays an advisory role commenting on the feasibility of the proposed system as well as stressing important issues of land use, future growth and assuring that other issues that matter most to the communities are given the necessary attention.
In an effort to expand the understanding of County staff and residents as well as encourage collaboration between facility owners the Planning Commissions produces facility status reports every five to ten years.
