In 2017 Montgomery County completed a GIS strategic plan which established vision, goals, and priorities for creating a centralized enterprise GIS system. The plan provides a framework for GIS governance, use, and data standards.
The mission of the Data & Mapping Services Division is to coordinate and guide the implementation, development, and maintenance of the county’s enterprise GIS. We aim to eliminate data redundancy and provide accurate geospatial data, efficient services, support, and opportunities for Montgomery County.
The Montgomery County Data & Mapping Services Division manages the county’s GIS data layers, the public geospatial data portal, and the county’s multi-departmental enterprise GIS. The Division acquires, creates, maintains, and distributes the spatial data used by county departments, municipalities, agencies, and the public.
