Lafayette Street/Ridge Pike Road Restriction Updates

May 29 - June 2


Construction activities will continue on Lafayette Street from Barbadoes to Ford. Inside the work zone, Allan Myers will be excavating roadway project wide, installing drainage, and hauling out material. Flagger patterns and short-term lane closures will be implemented. Traffic should make all efforts toa void the intersection of Lafayette and Swede and Lafayette and Dekalb. Vehicles waiting at the Norristown Transportation Center should stay in the pull-off on the street side of the reflective panels.

Any lane closures will occur during working hours. The Stage 2 detour is planned to be implemented on June 4. Upon this closure, Lafayette between the Saw Mill Run Culvert and Dekalb will be placed in a one-way pattern headed west.

May 21 - 25 2018


Construction activities will continue on Lafayette Street from Barbadoes to Ford. Inside the work zone, Allan Myers will be excavating roadway project wide, installing drainage, and hauling out material. Flagger patterns and short-term lane closures will be implemented. Traffic should make all efforts to avoid the intersection of Lafayette and Dekalb during rush hour. Vehicles waiting at the Norristown Transportation Center should stay in the pull-off on the street side of the reflective panels.

Please note: Lafayette Street will be closed June 4 between Walnut Street and Mill Street and will remain closed through the summer of 2018 for the replacement of the Saw Mill Run culvert. Local access will be retained and Lafayette Street will be limited to westbound traffic between Mill Street and DeKalb Street. Every effort will be made to reopen Lafayette Street before the school year begins this September. Overall construction will continue into 2020.


May 6 - 12 2018


Construction activities will continue on Lafayette Street from Barbadoes to Ford. Inside the work  zone, Allan Myers will be excavating roadway project wide, installing drainage, and hauling out material. Allan Myers will also be isntalling temporary traffic signals at Swede. The Schuylkill River Trail will be closed from the Norristown Transportation Center to Ford Street. This may cause bike and pedestrian traffic on Lafayette to be increased in this area. Flagger patterns and short-term lane closures will be implemented. Traffic should make all efforts to avoid the intersection of Lafayette and Dekalb during rush hour. No parking will be permitted on the south side of Lafayette.

April 29 - May 4, 2018


Construction activities will continue on Lafayette Street from Barbadoes to Ford. The Project is now in the Stage 3 Traffic Configuration. Flagger patterns and short-term lane closures will be implemented. Traffic should make all efforts to avoid the intersection of Lafayette and Dekalb during rush hour and at night. No parking will be permitted on the south side of Lafayette. The south side of Lafayette will have “No Parking Anytime Towaway Zone” signage installed. Vehicles will be ticketed and possibly towed. Vehicles waiting at the Norristown Transportation Center should stay in the pull-off on the street side of the reflective panels.
Hours of work: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.


April 23 - 27 2018


Construction activites will continue on Lafayette Street from Barbadoes to Ford. The project is now in Stage 3 Configuration on Lafayette Street. In the stage 3 traffic configuration, minor hindrances to traffic will occur, such as flagger patterns and short term lane closures. Traffic should make all efforts to avoid the intersection of Lafayette and Dekalb during rush hour. The public (including residents) will not be permitted to park on the south side of Lafayette. The south side of Lafayette will have "NO PARKING ANYTIME TOW AWAY ZONE" signage installed and vehicles will be ticked and possibly towed. No detours are planned to be implemented. Any lane closures will occur during working hours. Work will be occuring intermittently between Barbadoes and Ford Streets.



APRIL 16 - 20 2018

Construction activities will continue on Lafayette Street from Barbadoes to Ford. The project is now in the Stage 3 Traffic Configuration on Lafayette Street. Allan Myers will be demolishing roadway project wide, installing drainage, and hauling out material. Allan Myers will also be installing temporary traffic signals at Swede. Excavation of proposed trail will be ongoing. Minor hindrances to traffic will occur, such as flagger patterns and short term lane closures. Allan Myers anticipates traffic flow to remain somewhat constant as it has over the past four weeks. Minor impacts to the Schulkill River Trail will occur during drainage installation. Flaggers will be utilized as necessary. Work will be occurring intermittently between Barbadoes and Ford Streets.

Allan Myers will begin boxing out the SRT, and impacting traffic at Ford STreet. Upon approval of resequencing, parking meters will be removed, and stage 3 striping will be installed. Minor hindorances to traffic will occur, such as flagger patterns and short term lane closures. Allan Myers anticipates traffic flow to remain somewhat constant as it has over the past four weeks. Minor impacts to the Schuylkill River Trail will occur during drainage isntallation. Flaggers will be utilized as necessary.



April 3 - 6 2018

Construction activities will continue on Lafayette Street from Barbadoes to Ford. Allan Myers will be locating utilities. Drainage installation to begin at Ford and Lafayette Streets.

Myers will be locating utilities and sampling soil project-wide. Drainage installation to begin at Ford and
Lafayette Streets from 9am to 3pm during the week of March 26.


March 12 - 16 2018

Work crews will be doing utility locating and dirt sampling at various locations along Lafayette St. from Barbadoes St. to Ford St. from 9am to 3pm during the week of March 19.
