How to Access Services from the Developmental Disabilities Office

Montgomery County Developmental Disabilities Office provides services and supports to children and adults with a diagnosis of Intellectual Disability and children and adults with a diagnosis of Autism.

Eligibility

To assist in the determination of eligibility the following documents will be necessary before an intake meeting can be scheduled:

Individuals with an Intellectual Disability

  • Psychological completed by a licensed psychologist that documents:
  • A diagnosis of intellectual disability
  • A full scale IQ score of 70 or below
  • An adaptive assessment which documents significant limitations in at least two areas of adaptive functioning skills
  • Evidence of the onset of Intellectual Disabilities prior to the age of 22.

Individuals with Autism

  • Enrolled in Medical Assistance
  • Standardized diagnostic tool completed by a Developmental Pediatrician, Licensed Psychiatrist or Psychologist that provides a diagnosis of Autism.
  • An adaptive assessment which documents significant limitations in at least three areas of adaptive functioning skills
  • Evidence of the onset of Autism prior to the age of 22.
  • MA51 or other medical evaluation form completed by a physician recommending ICF/ORC level of care
