Liquid Waste Management Program

liquid waste managementEffective January 2013, the Office of Public Health (OPH) amended Chapter 15 of the Public Health Code to include two additional sections providing authority to the Division of Water Quality Management to license and inspect all liquid waste hauling vehicles conducting business in Montgomery County. Liquid waste is defined as sewage pumped from septic tanks, holding tanks, pump tanks and cesspools and does not include hazardous waste or industrial waste.

Upon submission of a completed application, applicable fee and passing inspection, a valid OPH license and operational sticker for the vehicle will be provided. License conditions for the inspections will include checks on vehicle integrity, operating licenses and insurance, and may include checks on manifests documenting waste source, waste volume and disposal destination. The inspections will be conducted in remote locations at different points in the county. The inspections will be scheduled for late spring.
