SAFETY AND COURTESY TIPS
In almost any outdoor activity there is some risk. Because of the length and sometimes remote character of the Trail, users are
advised to be alert and careful when using the Trail. Water and restrooms are only available at the public park trail head areas
and at public restaurants in the village centers. In case of emergency, Trail users are encouraged to carry a map of the trail
with them, a cell phone, and to note their location from the various roadways that they cross and the closest mile post marker.
ALL USERS

Obey all Trail signs and posted rules and regulations.
The Trail is open from dawn to dusk.
No motor vehicles are permitted.
Be courteous to other Trail users.
Respect the rights of adjacent property owners. Much of the surrounding land is private property. Visitors should remember to stay on the Trail, except where clearly invited, and to park at clearly marked parking areas only.
Please keep the Trail clean and neat for everyone. Visitors should always abide by the "litter carry in-carry out" policy and to use litter receptacles along the way.
Keep dogs on a leash and remove all pet feces from the Trail.
All users are urged not to wear radio or CD headsets.
Be predictable - Be Courteous - Enjoy the Trail

BICYCLISTS AND IN-LINE SKATERS

Yield to pedestrians and equestrians, especially on bridges.
Ride at a safe speed. A 15 mph speed limit is recommended.
Always be considerate of bikes coming your way. Keep right, pass left, and allow room to pass.
Bikers must "stop" at all stop signs.
Slow down and form a single line for congested conditions.
Be prepared to stop and give a voice or bell warning before passing other visitors.
Bicyclists are encouraged to wear helmets and children under 12 are required by state law to wear a helmet.

PEDESTRIANS

Be especially alert when stopping or turning around.
Expect to be passed from behind.
Listen for audible signals and help faster trail users (runners, bicyclists, equestrians) pass safely.
Yield to equestrians on bridges.

EQUESTRIANS

Expect bicyclists, dogs, and pedestrians to pass. Your horse must always be comfortable with those users.
Stay on marked Trail area.
Please be courteous to adjacent landowners and remember that not all people are comfortable around horses.
The Trail is narrow in places and has various bridge crossings, you must always keep your horse under complete control.
Do not run or canter your horse on the Trail when other visitors are on the Trail.
