FOSTER CARE

The goal of foster care is to provide temporary care of children while services are offered to parents in order to reunite the family. The Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth’s Foster Care Program needs foster parents to provide temporary care to children and to work with birth parents.

When foster care is needed for a child, the Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth tries to keep a child in their community, which provides a child some stability during a family crisis and can facilitate family reunification.

Becoming a foster parent is easier than you think. Basic requirements are that applicants:

FOSTER/ADOPT

A new program at the Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth is FOSTER/ADOPT. When family reunification with a child’s birth family does not appear possible, the Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth closely looks at foster families who may have an interest in adoption. To be considered, those interested must be approved foster parents and complete both foster care and foster/adopt training.
