State-Mandated Recycling
The Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling, and Waste Prevention Act of 1988 (Act 101) mandates recycling in municipalities with a populations over 10,000 and those with a population between 5,000 and 10,000 with a population densities greater than 300 people per square mile. Because population varies greatly throughout the county, each
recycling program in Montgomery County’s 62 municipalities looks a little bit different.
