Montgomery County Child Advocacy Project (MCAP)
MCAP logoIn 2006, District Attorney Ferman and Court of Common Pleas Judge Wendy Demchick-Alloy co-founded the non-profit Montgomery Child Advocacy Project (MCAP), in recognition that the criminal justice system often neglected to adequately protect the legal interests of child abuse victims, MCAP child advocate attorneys receive specialized training and volunteer their time to provide legal representation specifically for abused or neglected children who are compelled to participate within the criminal justice system.  Each advocate assumes full responsibility to vigorously protect and assert the child’s best interests.  MCAP receives support from the Montgomery County Bar Association, and referrals from the Montgomery County Courts, District Attorney’s Office, Public Defender’s Office, Office of Children and Youth, police departments, hospitals and private social agencies.
