Tri-County Area

West Pottsgrove Township was established in 1900, and took its area from Upper Pottsgrove Township. This small township is situated in part on the Schuylkill River and in terms of location, is the western most municipality in Montgomery County. Although a separate governmental entity, West Pottsgrove is an integral part of the Greater Pottstown area (this includes Pottstown Borough, Lower, Upper and West Pottsgrove Townships, and several bordering municipalities in Chester and Berks Counties). This small township provides a number of manufacturing jobs for the area. By virtue of its location, West Pottsgrove looks to the Pottstown area for public services, hospital facilities, as well as certain cultural and recreational activities. A portion of West Pottsgrove is often referred to as Stowe, but still has the same zip code as Pottstown.

PUBLIC SERVICES:

The Stowe portion of the township is serviced by public water and sewer facilities. A full-time police force serves the township. Fire protection is provided by volunteer companies. Residential trash disposal is provided by private haulers who are contracted by the township.

RECREATION:

The township works in conjunction with the Pottsgrove Recreation Board and the Pottsgrove School District. Facilities include two area parks and a host of activities run by the Recreation Board. Little League programs are run by a private organization. For more information on what is available, please call 610-323-7717.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:

No SEPTA bus or rail lines serve the township.

SHOPPING:

This small township has no major community or neighborhood shopping centers. However, there are small businesses and shops primarily along the township’s main street. The nearest major shopping mall is the Coventry Mall in nearby Chester County.
