UPPER HANOVER
|
![]() Originally a part of Hanover Township, Upper Hanover became a separate township along with Douglass, New Hanover, and Pottsgrove in 1741. It is the fourth largest municipality in the county. The township was settled almost entirely by German immigrants, part of the large wave arriving from Philadelphia in the mid-eighteenth century. A major attraction is the Green Lane Reservoir and the surrounding county park land. Upper Hanover is still a highly rural and agricultural area. However, some residential developments have and will continue to slowly add to the local population. Recognized areas in the township include Palm and Perkiomen Heights. It should be noted that some residents may actually live in the township, but have a East Greenville, Pennsburg or Red Hill mailing address.
