NEW HANOVER
|
![]() In 1741, the Township of Hanover was divided into the Townships of New Hanover, Upper Hanover, Douglass, and Pottsgrove. The development of two major roadways, Skippack and Swamp Pikes, gave area residents and businesses the ability to travel to surrounding communities and markets. Dairy farming was the predominant industry up to the years of the Second World War and many local farm products made their way to Philadelphia. Today, the township remains to a large extent, rural.
