By a decree dated June 2, 1896, Collegeville Borough was created by taking 1.6 square miles, or approximately 1,050 acres from Upper Providence Township. Collegeville Borough, seated on the Perkiomen Creek, is an important community, in that it provides neighboring municipalities with goods and services needed by area residents. Much of Collegeville retains its nineteenth-century village flavor in addition to its recent residential developments. Ursinus College's beautiful campus adds a wonderful touch to this small community. Some Collegeville mailing addresses may actually be located in Lower Providence, Upper Providence, Skippack or Perkiomen Townships.

PUBLIC SERVICES:

The majority of the borough is serviced by public water and sewer facilities. A full-time police force serves the borough. Fire protection is provided by volunteer companies. Residential trash disposal is provided by the borough.

RECREATION:

Borough facilities include a public playground, a basketball court, and a small park. Little League activities are run by a private organization. For more information on what is available, please call 610-489-9208.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:

SEPTA bus routes travel through main street Collegeville, allowing access to Norristown, King of Prussia, and Pottstown.

SHOPPING:

A small main street shopping area exists. The borough contains two community shopping centers. Also, the same type of facilities are available in neighboring Trappe Borough. The nearest major shopping mall is the Court and Plaza at King of Prussia.
