The Montgomery County Jury Selection Commission is responsible for providing a qualified pool of jurors to ensure the right of all citizens to a trial by an impartial jury. Citizens who fulfill their jury service obligation are continuing a tradition established under the United States Constitution over 200 years ago.
If by the end of your first day of service you are not on a jury or are not in a courtroom for jury selection, you will be discharged. If you are chosen for a trial you must serve until that trial is over.
If you have received a summons, ask to have your jury service postponed to a specific date because of a conflict, or, in certain circumstances, be excused. You can also check your status and, after 4 p.m. on the day before your scheduled service, find out if you are needed in court.
