Montgomery County has seen a dramatic increase in the number of deaths from heroin and prescription opioid-related overdoses in recent years. It is an epidemic that has spread across Pennsylvania and the nation.
The Department of Public Safety is committed to making sure our police and EMS partner agencies have the resources and training they need to respond to opioid overdoses, including access to the potentially life-saving antidote Naloxone.
We also work closely with our partners in Montgomery County’s government, including the County Commissioners Office, the Office of Drug and Alcohol Programs, the Health Department and the District Attorney’s Office to increase awareness of the resources that are available to combat and treat substance abuse.
