In Montgomery County, it is our goal to improve the health, safety, and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) individuals/identities. We know that the LGBTQ community is a thriving group that has unique health needs that must be addressed. According to the Welcoming Project, estimates from 2011 indicate that over 9 million American adults identify as LGBTQ. They represent diverse ages, racial and ethnic backgrounds, religious convictions, and belief systems, as do their allies.

LGBT Elder Initiative
The mission of the LGBTEI is to foster and advocate for services and resources that are competent, culturally sensitive, inclusive and responsive to the needs of LGBT elders in the Dela
ware Valley and beyond.

SAGE (Services and Advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Elders) is the country's largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) older adults.  SAGE's mission is to address issues related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) aging. In partnership with its constituents and allies, SAGE works to achieve a high quality of life for LGBT older adults, supports and advocates for their rights, fosters a greater understanding of aging in all communities, and promotes positive images of LGBT life in later years.
