The Montgomery County Commissioners in conjunction with Shred One Security Corp. sponsor community paper shredding events.
Montgomery County residents who have documents that should be shredded are encouraged to take advantage of this free event. No businesses are permitted. Residents are urged to make sure that the materials they present for shredding do not include plastic, plastic bags, batteries, cardboard, or metal. However, there is no need to remove staples, paper clips, or hanging folders. Bring documents in boxes or paper bags for ease of shredding on site. Two (2) boxes 9"x11"x17" or two (2) paper grocery bags per vehicle limit in consideration of other attendees. Volunteers will assist with removing documents from vehicles.
If your documents exceed the preferred amount you may contract with Shred One to come to your home or you may take your documents to Staples for shredding. Shred One Security Corp. has a Saturday drop-off for a fee.
“Shredding of documents has become important in our lives today for several reasons, not the least of which is the threat of identity theft,” said Josh Shapiro, chairman of the Montgomery County Commissioners. “We believe this service is useful, necessary, and will be appreciated by our residents, and we are very grateful to Shred One for their assistance.”
Shred One regularly participates in community shredding events. Mobile trucks perform all of the paper shredding as you watch. All shredded paper is recycled by Shred One and the company is currently recycling paper at a rate that saves over 70,000 trees annually.
